I’m quite impressed that you’re tangling with some formidable thinkers like McLaren & Co., especially at your age. I wouldn’t say he doesn’t understand the Bible, because I do believe he’s been a Christian for maybe 30 years, and according to his testimony, he used to be more “evangelical” — until he couldn’t “take it anymore” (he didn’t really define what “it” meant…I presume he meant he couldn’t handle “Penal Substitution” anymore, since that’s what he trashed at the event you mentioned).
